Pryse Labs

Research on how South African medical aid is published.

Published research on how South African medical aid plans are structured and disclosed. Built from public scheme records, never from member data.

Pryse Labs studies the plan records themselves: how they are structured, what they disclose, and where the published material stops short. Every study reads the same public scheme records the comparison reads: 155 plans across 16 open schemes. None is computed from member data, none is personalised to a reader, and none ranks plans by suitability.

Published studies

  • The Illusion of Choice · How many of South Africa’s open medical aid plans can be told apart using only the benefit information their schemes publish in structured form, measured on Pryse’s loaded 2026 records, with price level excluded from the comparison.

Each study publishes its feature definitions, its distance measure, its dataset digest and its limitations. Pryse is not a licensed financial services provider and Labs makes no recommendation to anyone.
