What is being compared
Cash or voucher rewards, extra health-cover incentives, screenings and coaching are different products. Pryse records those categories separately and preserves published caps, conditions and “up to” qualifiers.
“No separate programme” does not mean “no preventative benefits”; it means the reviewed scheme material did not publish a separate behaviour-linked programme.
Discovery Health Medical Scheme
Discovery Vitality
A separate paid-for product, not a benefit of the medical scheme: you pay a monthly Vitality membership on top of your plan contribution and earn money back on qualifying groceries, pharmacy items and gym fees.
- HealthyFood: up to 25% back: Up to 10% back at Checkers or Woolworths on activation, rising to up to 25% back at your chosen primary partner and 10% at the other. Rewards are capped at R2 500 of qualifying spend a month for a single member and R5 000 for a family. Condition: Every adult on the membership must complete a Vitality Health Check and a Vitality Age assessment within the previous 12 months.
- HealthyCare: up to 25% back: The same two tiers at Clicks and Dis-Chem, paid in Discovery Miles. Capped at R2 000 of monthly spend for a single member and R4 000 for a family on Premium; R1 250 and R2 500 on Active. Condition: At least R150 of qualifying spend per member per partner each calendar month.
- Vitality Money: up to 50% back: Discovery Bank clients can lift the HealthyFood and HealthyCare rate to up to 50% back. Discovery states the boost depends on Vitality Money status, the Discovery Bank product, card colour and qualifying monthly spend, so no single figure can be computed, and it is an upper bound.
- Gym: up to 75% off: Up to 75% off Virgin Active and Planet Fitness monthly membership, plus up to eight free workouts a month. Condition: Both are published as "up to" and scale with your Vitality Health status, so the share you actually get is not a published number.
- Vitality Active membership: R159 a month for the main member and R159 for every additional adult. Children under 18 are not billed and do not receive a Vitality Active policy.
